On my channel motivated2die on YouTube I have created a number of unique, technical exploration videos that aim to shed light on some of AAPG's game-, netcode- or weapon mechanics.

Here you will find links to all the videos with descriptions and further information.

PLAYER vs SPECATOR vs DEMOREC visual comparison shooting, movement, animations and more

https://youtu.be/u1w8yisGDMI

In my biggest and broadest comparison yet, I try to show how the demorec functionality in AA captures data from the gameplay and how the accuracy of that data differs from that of spectator view and what the player originally sees.

I could show that demorec view is essentially the same info that is also sent out as the spectator view data, making it just as reliable (or unreliable). This means that insisting on demorec footage to evaluate reports about players is not reasonable and won't help with getting a clearer picture of the actual gameplay.

On the contrary: Since the demorec feature is far from finished or polished, there are some bugs that only happen there that can make footage look even more broken and irregular than it was in reality. Therefore, only use demorec as a last resort if no other person was able to record at the time of an incident, and always take what you see with a grain of salt!
